8 Laundry Tips

Laundry is always a dreaded chore for all of us so I wanted to offer some down and dirty tips to help out.  It is no simple task to keep up with the laundry nor it easy to keep everything moving along.  If you have any great laundry tips that work for you, please feel free to share them…

1.  Don’t commit to a load unless you can see it through.  Make sure that you have the time to complete a load of clothes to the very end.  There is nothing worse than washing a load of clothes and then discovering them a few days later dried in a wad in the washer.

2.  Have everyone help you sort.  Purchase a two hamper system for everyone.  This way they can sort white and colors as they get undressed and then you can just grab a load when you are ready.

3.  Keep a good stain remover near by.  If it is a tough greasy stain, dishwasher detergent is a great option.  I also love the oxy-clean in the spray bottle.  They key is to check the items with the stain before it hits the dryer.  Once it goes through the dryer the stain is set.  If you catch it in time, you can re-treat it!

4.  Affix a magnetic caddy to the side of your washer.  This can be a collection point for coins and anything else that is found during the process.

5.  Keep a small basket near the dryer.  If you have kids, you have onesies socks!  I house the lonely socks in the basket that I have set aside in the hopes that the mate appears shortly.  If not, pitch them!

7.  Hang shirts that need to be ironed as soon as they come out of the dryer.  This will cut down on the amount of wrinkles that you have to tackle.

8.  If you have young kids prep your kid’s outfits as you do laundry. Fold them into clothes packs consisting of a shirt, a pair of pants (or shorts), underwear, and a pair of socks. Each day, your younger kids can simply go to the closet and pick out a clothes pack for the day.  No more time is wasted trying to figure out what the kids can wear.
