The Organizer Lady provides some great insight to help you declutter your home.
A powerful habit for change is “When you get it out, put it back”.”
This slogan needs one more word to make it really work. The motto should read, “When you get it out, put it DIRECTLY back,” meaning to put it back EXACTLY where you took it from!
1) If you take the back soap from the soap dish and put it on the side of the tub. Uh-oh!
2) You return the cereal box to the shelf below where you found it. That is a no-no!
3) You leave your shoes just outside the door of the closet instead of on the rack inside. Not!
Look around your house to see how this works in your life. Putting items back in the general vicinity just won’t work. There are many reasons it is important. Do yourself and everybody else in the house a favor. Make sure that every time you want something is it EXACTLY (EXACTLY) where it is supposed to be!
