You will need to put some thought and effort into your magazines to be able to cut down on some of this clutter that just seems to sneak up on you.
1. Arrange your magazines or catalogs in upright holders or baskets instead of piling them on top of each other. This is a very visual way of storing them so you will also know when your new magazine or catalog comes in and you can easily replace the old one.
2. Don’t discard those magazines that you want to leaf back through and decide if you are going to make that purchase. To flag you quicker, use a paperclip instead of dog earring the pages so they will be easier to spot. Another great idea is to tear out the page that you are interested in and staple it to the order form or information with the phone number so that it is handy when you are ready to make the purchase.
3. Determine the value of those free magazines that you receive on a regular basis. If you had to pay for them, would you still be receiving them? You will need to determine if they are worth receiving and ask to be removed from the distribution list. Either that or recycle them as soon as you can.
4. Don’t hesitate to part with those glossy magazines that you pick up (yes, I know that you paid good money for them). Realize that once you have read them, you’ve received your money’s worth and they can be recycled! If there are a few pages that you want to keep, tear them out and file them away.
Happy Organizing! Bridges
I love your organization tips. I’m a friend of Irene Gekas and she hooked me up with you here on Facebook. I thoroughly enjoy your posts and articles and wanted to say THANK YOU! I’m an organization “freak” and my friends wish they were more like me, but sometimes I get stumped on some of my projects…..you’ve been a big help.
Sincerely,
Pam Smith
