decluttering tips

Why are you hanging onto your clutter?

A huge part of all decluttering tips is letting go of things you have held onto.  We can all think of excuses for holding onto our clutter (“I might need it someday,” “I paid good money for it”), but excuses don’t even hold up in these circumstances:

  1. You hate it. If you don’t like it, don’t keep it. Life is too short to hold onto things you loathe.
  2. You never fixed it. If something has been sitting in your home for more than a year without being fixed, you’re never going to fix it. Time to dispose, sell, or recycle the item.
  3. You forgot you owned it. When uncluttering, if you find something you didn’t even know you had, it’s safe to assume you can live without it again.
  4. You don’t use it. Maybe you once used it, but now you don’t anymore. If something doesn’t have utility or bring you joy, it’s time to get rid of it.
  5. You would be horrified for someone to find it. If your relationship with someone would be damaged if he/she found it, best to get rid of it.

Get rid of the clutter in your life to make room for the things that truly matter and are important to you. Good luck!
