Clear Your Clutter

The longer I work with my clients and their clutter, the more I see the energy connection between the two.  I noticed that when I worked with someone heavily weighed down with their clutter, I would struggle with that energy (unknown at that point) and then found that when I came home from that appointment, I would take a deep breath when I walked into my house.  It wasn’t until I started reading Karen Kingston’s book “Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui” did I realize the significance between the two.  All of that clutter literally “sucks” the energy out of you.  The word that I hear most from my clients is they are overwhelmed with all of their stuff and don’t know where to start!  All of that energy is working together and they literally are overwhelmed with their clutter.

I wanted to quote a few sections of her book to emphasis this point:
  • “Clutter accumulates when energy stagnates and, likewise, energy stagnates when clutter accumulates.  So the clutter begins as a symptom of what is happening with you in your life and then becomes a part of the problem itself because the more of it you have, the more stagnant energy it attracts to itself”
  • “Every aspect of your life is anchored energetically in your living space, so clearing your clutter can completely transform your entire existence”
  • The reason why clutter clearing is so effective is that while you are putting your external world in order there are corresponding changes going on internally too.  Everything around you, especially your home environment, mirrors your inner self.  So by changing your home you also change the possibilities in your own life.  Removing the obstacles to the harmonious flow of energy in your living environment creates more harmony in your life and the space for wonderful new opportunities to come to you.”

Wow, I think that is some powerful stuff to ponder.  Think about that as you struggle with your own clutter and you may begin to understand the struggle that you are having with your “stuff.”  I find that most of my clients spend way too much time and energy managing their “stuff” vs. enjoying their life!

Happy Feng Shui!  Bridges
