Think of your desktop as prime real estate in your home office available only to your most valuable properties. Review the supplies that have taken up permanent residence there. Should some of them be moved to another home?
For the most efficient setup, arrange your home office using the daily-weekly-monthly criteria (this theory actually applies to any area in your home)!
Daily: Supplies you use every day should be within arm’s reach when you’re sitting at your desk
Weekly: Inventory and information you access only now and then can on the other side of the room.
Monthly: If your office space is limited and you need an item less than once a month, store it in a different room or even offsite.
The main objective here is to be as efficient as possible and keep what you need in reach without having to waste precious time looking for items.
