Today we’re going to talk about how to make a closet hold coats, shoes, and backpacks. The key here is to store it where you use it.

We’re in the coat closet, and it’s important to make sure you use wooden hangers instead of plastic or metal ones. Too often, I see hangers that are folded and bent because the coats in the coat closet are often seasonal items, and they’re too heavy for the flimsier hangers.

It’s also ideal to use wooden hangers to store them for hanging up your kids’ backpacks. They’re nice and sturdy, and they won’t fold on you. Another great solution is a hook; you install them, the kids throw on the backpacks, and you’re done.

For shoes, I’m a big fan of baskets. You can put it on the floor; the kids can kick off their shoes into it; it’s nice and simple. If you have a shoe shelf, that’s another great solution if it fits inside your closet. And that is how to make a closet hold backpack shoes and coats.
