Ditch the yard sale and consign!
I say ditch the yard sale and either consign your items or donate ! “Yard sales are only good if you set the date when you decide to clean out,” says Rick. If you are looking to “turn your discards into dollars” try a local consignment shop. You will be amazed at how much fun it is and you will receive an additional 10% on your items sold if you decide to shop! Or you can cash out (for a little less) and have some mad money! Either way, most consignment shops will also donate any items they do not take and provide you with a tax receipt. It is a win-win situation for everyone!
Some of you may not be aware that I offer this service to my clients. I will set up and manage their consignment accounts and in a lot of cases, their consignments pay for my services. I also offer this service on the side to those not using my services for an additional fee. I can set up and coordinate transportation of larger furniture as well as accessory items, clothes, shoes and jewelry!
