Hey Guys, before I jump in my post, I have to apologize for my post yesterday. I don’t know what happened in computer cyberspace, but the post was fine on my end when I went to publish it? The first half of my post is floating out there somewhere! Even after it was edited, it still didn’t show up…I hope I find it some day!
Anyways, the letter “H” is for HANG IT UP! If you are a mom you know exactly where I am coming from. Things are left on the floor all of the time and, I don’t know about you, but I certainly get tired of cleaning up behind the whirlwind of clothes, towels and anything else that ends up on the floor. I am working with a client that wants a station set up in her garage where the kids can put their shoes in their own colorized cubby and their backpack on a hook. As of now, everything is put into a big pile right outside of the garage door. Also, if there is one thing that I have learned with kids is they are MUCH more likely to hang something up if there are “Hooks” (another “H” word).
If there is one piece of advice that I have for you moms out there is to study your kids habits. More than likely they are not going to change, but you can find an organizational system that will work within those habits. For example, if you have a pile of shoes outside of your front door…add a big basket for everyone to put their shoes in. If towels get thrown on the floor after showers, try getting rid of the towel bars and add plenty of hooks. You will be amazed how those small changes can help contain the chaos in your life!
If you have any other suggestion for organizational changes that have worked in your life, please share them with everyone. This could be an ah hah moment for someone else!
Happy Organizing! Bridges
Hooks are indeed the way to go when dealing with kids (including the large adult male ones!) Good advice as always.
