Are you drawn to all of those shiny new gadgets at the store?  Do you think that gadget will make the task easier or more efficient?  How many of these gadgets are sitting in your drawer that you have not used?

I have to it admit, I like gadgets.  Recently I was drawn to a gadget, in the grocery store, that was next to the avocados.  “Doesn’t this look interesting?” I thought.  This gadget could easily help me scoop out the contents of an avocado.  So, of course, I fell victim to giving it a try.  I got it home and tried it right away and quickly realized that this shiny new gadget was not worth the money that I spent or the drawer space to store it.

I welcome you to look in your kitchen drawers and pull out all those gadgets that you thought would be so much fun to use.  Ask yourself “how often do I really use this?”  If you do not remember the last time that you used a gadget set it aside for donation to Goodwill.  I promise you will never miss that shiny gadget.  Plus, you will make room in your gadget drawer for those gadgets that are actually helpful to you.

I’m always telling my clients that they only use 20% of their gadgets 80% of the time!  That rule holds true for everything else in your life.  Keep that in mind the next time you see that shiny new gadget begging you to purchase it at the store!

Happy Organizing!  Bridges
