We all have one.  They come in different sizes and have a wide variety of items in them, but they are all basically the same.  They are all full of those things we need but don’t have a place for.  Junk drawers.

There is nothing wrong with having a junk drawer, but think about this – if all of the stuff in your junk drawer is actually “JUNK” why do you still have it?  Most of the time we need the items in our junk drawer but because we don’t have a specific place to keep this things, they all get tossed together in a giant jumble of a mess.

Let me tell you something, it’s okay for your junk drawer to be organized.  Let me repeat that.  It’s okay for your junk drawer to be organized.  In the long run keeping this drawer organized will save you time and money.  You will be able to find items you need quickly and you will not buy duplicate items that you though that you were out of because you could not see them.

Please watch the video segment I made with Channel 3 TV on How to Organize your Junk Drawer.

Remember these key steps:

1. Take everything out of your drawer.  Sort and Purge items that you don’t need.

2. Measure your drawer and choose an organizing tray that fits.  Make sure there are several compartments to keep items separate.

3. Put like items together.

4. Use a label maker to keep cords organized.  Also a battery organizer is a great investment for all those loose batteries that are most likely tossed into your junk drawer.

Hopefully these quick steps will get your junk drawer to a place where you can find what you need, when you need it.  You will have to change the name of your junk drawer to your “organized place to keep things” drawer.

Happy Organizing!  Bridges
